Case Studies - to highlight success stories about your company's products or services
-
Websites - that showcase your expertise, your integrity, and your experience.
What are Your Qualifications as a Technical Writer and Proposal Writer?
I have been writing professionally since 2005. I hold a bachelor's degree in art and a minor in English from UT Arlington. In addition, I've earned a Technical Writing Certificate from Bellevue College in Washington. I'm a graduate of the American Writers and Artists Inc. I've completed numerous writing assignments, including large-scale business and technical proposals, collateral material for proposals including case studies, websites (content including design), and articles. I also have experience collaborating with clients and their technical and service associates teams.
As a member of AWAI's "Circle of Success," I engage in targeted learning programs that continually sharpen my writing skills. My training at AWAI helped me develop persuasive writing skills. I also have access to and support from some of the world's finest writers.
As a member of the Professional Writer's Alliance (PWA), I participate in events and services that encourage solid professional standards.
What is your experience writing technical proposals and case studies in scientific and technical fields?
Much of my work has been dedicated to researching and writing in science and technology. The following points highlight my experience and credentials:
Infrastructure:
* Experience includes writing/editing proposals for large-scale infrastructure development programs for clients in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Angola. Project proposals included GIS Systems, Toll Roads, Oil Refineries with Storage Facilities, A Deep Water Seaport Complex, and Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities.
Science & Technology:
* Provided technical and business writing for Real Earth Models (REM) during startup. I Wrote project proposals, including tunneling projects for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA), Geological studies for ExxonMobil, and landmark projects such as Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota, and the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.
* Case studies have included projects involving the use of new laser scanning technology in:
-
Problem-solving: (volume measurement with negative space; monitoring the structural integrity of infrastructure; floodwater protection)
-
Oil and gas: (outcrop analysis; Hydrocarbon fluid flow calculations)
-
Geological studies: (geologic analysis; study of subsurface karst systems)
-
3D architectural modeling/ BIM: (factory redesign; building renovation)
* Graphic design is also essential for successful technical documents. My technical and graphic design expertise includes three years of experience in technical illustration. I've prepared proposals, technical manuals, and handbooks for P-3 and F-16 aircraft used by the Department of Defense.
Aviation:
* Technical copy in the aviation field is part of my expertise. I hold commercial pilot and flight instructor certificates, plus multi-engine and instrument ratings. I'm also a member of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots.
I keep abreast of information in scientific fields by regularly monitoring newsletters, podcasts, webinars, books, and blogs.
What sets you apart from others?
A keen understanding of people, their needs, and their desires set me apart. My insight, combined with deep caring for people, enables me to reach and address their core feelings and begin building a relationship of trust.
I work hard to stay on the leading edge with information and wisdom in various fields.
Staying current with changing complex material requires reading scientific studies, books, newsletters, and articles. Regular attendance at seminars, conventions, webinars, and conversations with subject matter experts (SMEs) also helps keep me at the forefront of science and its role in service to society.

We were extremely pleased with the proposal Ms. Britton wrote for our organization. We wanted our message to appeal to a multi-cultural audience. She hit the mark exactly in communicating the right tone and message. Her clear perception in understanding our needs, and her ability to create a truly compelling proposal was key in moving our project forward.
